I bought a Hong Gil Dong VCD at Poh Kim last Sunday. All discs except the first and last 4 discs are defected, chinese subtitle and original korean speech dont tally in some of the scenes.

For example:

Actual Speech : Last Sunday, I bought Hong Gil Dong VCD at Poh Kim.
But the subtitle reads: Last Sunday, I

Its quite obvious its an incomplete sentence. And then I'll have to pause and rewind and switch to chinese voiceover, just to catch what they said.

And sometimes....

Actual speech (Role A) : What do you intend to do with her?
Actual speech (Role B) : She must die, no matter what. She knows too much, including the sword.

Chinese subtitles reads:
Role A : What do you
Role B : She must die. Including the sword.

Its very very irritating.

I approached the staff(a brown girl by the name of Audrey) at Liang Court Poh Kim, trying to explain the defect. There were no customers in the shop, she was watching a hong kong drama. Apparently unhappy being disturbed from her show, she attended to me and tested the VCD on the spot. The first disc that I passed to her was, amazingly, perfectly fine, so I passed her another disc which I remembered to have that problem.

She started watching the disc from the beginning, worried that she's really going to watch the whole episode, I requested to fast forward to the middle of the episode where its more likely to spot the problem with the subtitles. She fast forward the WHOLE DISC, without stopping at any scenes to check, and then looking back at me with that slowly-blinking eyes.

"I dont see any problem with this disc."

OF COURSE YOU DONT SEE IT IF YOU FAST FORWARD THE WHOLE EPISODE, BABE.

Attempted to re-explain the problem but it didnt get into her though, she repeated 3 times that "There has never been anyone complaining before about this".

I was smiling through gritted teeth, "This is the first time I have a problem with Poh Kim Vcds too."

"So its the first time you are buying VCDs la?"

#
-_-

"What I'm trying to say is, I've bought Poh Kim VCDs before and has never had this kind of problem."

"Ya. And nobody has ever complained about this before. You are the first one."

YA YA YA FIRST ONE WHATEVER. COME ON IF I'M HERE TO CHEAT FOR ANOTHER SET, WHY WOULD I ASK FOR THE SAME DRAMA?

Unwillingly, she switched another set of VCDs for me. I asked her if there's still problem with this set, will I be able to change it.

"Maybe."

"...."
"Maybe means, can change or cannot change?"

Whats so difficult for a yes/no answer!? Anyway, her reply was that if I'm gonna change disc to disc, I can do it back at her shop but if I wana change to DVD version, need to go back to PS and "ask them to settle".

If you're interested to know, the new set still has the same problem. I'm going to bring it back to Poh Kim @ PS tml, wonder if I'll get the same attitude service. Did I just said the word service? Forget I said that.

If they're not okay to change, I'm totally fine with it. $19.90 for 1 set, I dont expect much. But swear I'm gonna tell the whole world about it (which I already did) and never ever gonna get even a 5 dollar disc from them again.

Lesson One : Christian Lacriox is not pronounced as "La-Kroy-x", its "La-Ku-ar".

I went to Christian Lacriox Exhibition on Sunday, one day right after the last day of evening free entry. AND OF COURSE, I DIDNT KNOW THAT. If I knew it, I would have went earlier to save that eight dollars entrance fee.

Art is a costly hobby. Always.

Crash into the guided tour. Was a very producer-like lady (if you know what I'm saying), talking in a as-a-matter-of-fact tone. I'm just making a wild guess----is this a Laselle Arts student's internship assignment? Feels like she is pouring out whatever she memorized from the lecture notes, but generally, her speech was pleasant and interesting.

Its about Costume Designer: Christian Lacroix, not Fashion designer : Christian Lacroix. Thats why most of the pieces that I saw were mostly from stageplays, operas and theatre dance performances. Costumes on stageplays have to be light-weight for the convenience of the actresses, and we're talking about a Master of Texture -- almost all pieces are happily layered. Plus Stage Productions dont have that much of a budget to spend bucks and bucks on beautiful silk, embroideries, hand-woven details.......and that is why, they came out with these:

Beautiful isnt it. Look closer...
Photobucket

..its paper. Like primary school art class, we get a big piece of paper, we draw, we paint, we stick macaroni and colourful straws and ta dah, you get this. And they wore this on stage. Save cost, save weight...bravo.
Photobucket

I didnt expect photography to be allowed inside, so all pics were taken by hp cam. My night mode isnt that great.
Photobucket

The venue was decorated very much closely to the classic opera theatres. They moved in a piano, chandeliers, velvet sofas, backstage mirrors....
Photobucket

I read " Top 50 must watch script-play" last December cos I couldnt find a decent book on Othelo. Please put aside all logics and moral feelings when you step into a theatre, we're talking about art. Its absurd that the queen falls in love with her own stepson when she thought that the king is dead and the stepson falls in love with another princess and the father comes back alive and kicking and kills the stepson. (This is not Othelo.)

Then again, its just one of the many absurd stories.

I cant stop looking at this General costume, its so suave! But the turn off point is, he goes without long pants. I hate guys in coat and shorts.
Photobucket

Cost-efficient combination of different materials, and yes, thats right, that familiar looking part is from an 18th century furniture. Master of texture, master of texture.
Photobucket

Inspired, I'm targeting my wardrobe flap and sofa cover for a patchwork dress......

The mannequins are all L size.
Photobucket

This mannequin is so big that it covers 1/4 of the platform.
Photobucket

This is a tent-like area where they squeeze in a few characters from different plays, including Cendrillion, Romeo and Juliet, Othelo etc etc....the famous ones la.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Another wearable costume. Get me that hat!
Photobucket

Some of his pieces strongly reminds me of these designers, no offence though:

Tsumori Chisato.
Photobucket

Tsumori Chisato on the left. Oh the red flamingo thingy is the famous Carmen dress!
Photobucket

And this, Vivienne Westwood. I'm sure Saturn Queen will throw in a few more punkies element, like how about black checked coat instead of plain jet.
Photobucket

This costume is for a lady character that's pretending to be a man in one of the scenes, for stupid people that isnt following the story close enough to understand, sometimes costumes have to speak for the character itself.

To end this post, this is my favourite sketch from the exhibition. *v*

Another job screwed is another lesson learnt. Level UP.

Its not uncommon for models to get sick. But to transmit this message over by SMS, and not by calling me immediately, is, in my point of view, very irresponsible. Especially when its 30 minutes before calltime. Handphone low battery is a very weak excuse, is your house phone 50 metres away?

What if I missed the msg? What if I didnt check my phone? What if by the time I see the msg, its already 5 minutes before shoot?

Why is it DIAL 999 and not SMS 999? Isn't it common sense?

Thats why I hate SMS.

A week ago, Giena and I went to Curry Favor House at Stamford House. Heard about it from Jim, suggesting that we go over for Ala-carte buffet at the Novena branch for C.G.

Photobucket
Curry Beef Stew and the Crab Cream Croquette. Didnt like both. Ccc was too starchy.

Photobucket
Fried Shitake at $6.90 (or was it $8.90). Thickly-coated, and the shitake was too wet.

Photobucket
Giena and the shitake. She didnt like the sauce.

Photobucket
Giena and the curry rice. She didnt like it either.

Wouldnt go again. Get the $5 voucher from me if you're still keen to check it out.

Feeling adventurous but not in the mood to entertain anyone, I wandered about Tanjong Pagar alone last Sunday.

Used to work in Fuji Xeros Towers 2 years back, when I was still fresh graduate from Poly. I used to scamper away from that area during lunch hours just to avoid the PAs from the same company, felt that I couldnt mix around with them. But then again, I hardly had time for lunch back then, it was either munching sandwiches on cabs/bus or dashing down Raffles Place to meet Sandy Koh.

And during the later part of my job, met up for Pork Chop Rice at Maxwell with Wennie cos she was studying private somewhere nearby. We used to meet at this corner of the road back then, happened to see Felicia Chin on shoot one fine day.......

A walk to Ann Siang Hill. Its a peaceful, quiet Sunday late afternoon.
Photobucket

The Ann Siang Hill I pictured was something like Haji Lane. Explained the disappointment. Its just a road lined with all my clients-to-be.

And the only shop that interests me was closed.

Going to meet up Dengli to biatch now. Tata.

What I wore last week:
Photobucket
.Logo print tank(Funkdeco)
.Blue hankerchief dress (HK)
.Clinched belf (FarEast)

Sometimes I wished I have a lover thats already dead. It would save me alot of explanations....to explain why I'm still in the office at this hour. To explain why I'm still alone. To explain....many things. Scary thought isnt it. Scary but romantic.

So me.

Its Eileen's birthday today! Everybody wish her happie happie birthday yeah *v*

I'm half dead but I want to blog this before I step out of office.

Today marks the memorable anniversary of my worklife in I Models. And in no time, my contract will be expired soon. It seems like a very long journey.

From the old office at Park Mall to the fantastic Soho1 at Clarke Quay.

From the all-girls team to Jerry and Mun and back to us again. Girls rules! (Remind me to blog about a work incident that proof this point)

From 58 kilos to 43 kilos.
Okay i exagerated. So what!!?

From referring myself as Bon to referring myself as Bonita. A name that I dislike others to call me by.

My mum has been counting down the days since the day I started working here. Two years straight, asking me to quit everyday, and here I am still. There has been times when all I wanted to do is to storm out of the office, hop on a cab and head home to bed, never to come back again. It had never happened.

I've lost control of my emotions once, early last year, a period that I would never want to go through again. Sitting infront of my computer, doing nothing but cry. Cant work, cant pick up calls, cant attend to emails, cant think, but cry. It was the day to decide whether should I just throw my resignation letter and leave.

And thanks to Lin and Wennie's words, I'm still here.

To go through the joy of the first SFF callsheet, the first batch of international models, staying back in office for crazy hang-arounds, get to know people around the world and to work in a work that I, deep inside, love and hate.

Its not that bad afterall. Isnt it? *v*

Attitude.

The attitude I receive from icantsaywho really fires me up. Speaking bad behind somebody's back will make me look ugly, turn ugly and be ugly but advice that I got was that --- is it really necessary / good to confront?

I wonder.

I think so.

There's a need for icantsaywho to know my stand, it has been creating alot of upsets and inconvenience. But then again.....there's so many "but then again"s.

I just stole a glance....the mirror reflected a really ugly me.

What I wore today:

Photobucket
.Black spag-strap (Topshop)
.Pants(HK)
.Black wool jacket (O2)
.Black scarf (Arab street....for 3 dollars can you believe it?)

Stressed. Cant sleep. That kinda of period is coming back....all because of one single project that has been driving us crazy. I have no problem about working OT but its really frustrating when you work with a very un-organized team.

The after effects of this job is - gaining weight and risk offending good talents. Please make it worthwhile and may nothing crops up tml. ALAHHHHHH!

Went over to Haji Lane with Kimmy, hell overpriced, their clothes! The vintage dresses are ranging from $80 onwards. It dont look like one-of-a-kind pieces. I'm rather disappointed, given the ratings and all I was expecting something more than that.

Like the concept of the area though, very street shopping. Fed up with air-conditioned shopping centres, packed with people and packed with same stores everywhere.

C.g later, see everyone!
