Weekend was all packed, lunches, dinners, catch ups....we even met Sarah Wan!

*

A friend told me that she wished to switch jobs, from a full time tutor to a part time insurance agent. She has been working happily for a good 5 years, building up rapport from students and parents and earning more than enough to support herself.

And now she wants to step out of her comfort zone, partly because the boyfriend wants her to and partly because she feels that she needs some interaction with the rest of her world.

I would be jumping with joy if its really for the latter. But seriously, I don't think so. I've got friends like Sandy Koh who IS holding a decent office job, travels to town everyday and scampers back home to shun herself from the outside world. (I can hear her argue back "wherrree got I got friends okaayy")

Its not about the job. Unless you're working in a factory in Tuas from 11am to 2am with no off days, no internet connection and no phone; otherwise you're not spared from any excuse of not having social interaction. That's what the social media platform is for.

Darling, its the character that gets you away from people. Not the job. I can't imagine how you are going to handle your clients in future if you're really going to take up an agent job.

And anyway the core problem actually lies in her boyfriend. In my opinion. (So if Mr Boyfriend is reading this post, your girlfriend wasn't badmouthing you, its MY OPINIONS) I'm not going to go through the crap about "if they love you they should accept the way you are", because some traits of some girlfriends really ought to be corrected.

Its not easy to find a job that is enjoyable to slave for and yet worth enough pennies to survive, and for her case, this seems like the ideal career for her. Don't try to brainwash and strip this away from her.
